Encaustics in 2 ½ D
Working with encaustic in a bas relief approach you can add a new level of texture and shadow. We will use a variety of materials to create sculptural surfaces such as wood, heavy paper, pom poms, pumice, felt, tar paper, tin, etc.. Making small constructions as sculptures or open boxes will be explored. Dipping, painting, burning in, scraping and rubbing techniques will also be covered.

Tim Dooley Screenprinting Factory
Come print in Tim's collaborative and innovative sweatshop as you create wearable art. This artist is known for creating a factory atmosphere in which wearable art and works on paper are produced. Participants will develop imagery by hand, photo, or computer generated which will comprise a bank of images to be used by the whole class collaboratively. These various images will be juxtaposed, layered, and/or multiplied through the process of screenprinting onto a variety of surfaces.
Tim Dooley received his MFA from the University of Tennessee in 1997 and earned two bachelor degrees from Florida State, one in International Affairs, 1989 and a BFA in Studio Art, 1993. He has taught printmaking at the University of Northern Iowa, Alabama State University, and the University of Tennessee. He has exhibited in institutions such at the Southern Mississippi Museum of Art, McNider Museum of Fine Arts, and the International Print Center in New York.

MONO SILKSCREEN PRINTING WITH KEN PARKER
PRESSWORKS is pleased to welcome Ken Parker, printmaking instructor from Ireland, to teach a 3-day Fundamentals of MONO SCREEN PRINTING workshop. This County Cork artist works in a wide range of media and materials & is passionate about teaching his stunning, creative & unique methods. (Visit www.kenparkerarts.com & see images of his silkscreen work & photos of prior Seattle workshops.)
In this workshop, you will learn how to use this very portable silkscreen equipment and to use this highly unique screen process to create amazing, inventive and colorful work. The instructor will demonstrate techniques he uses. Much time will be spent working with students individually. Water-based inks (nontoxic) will be used.
