Please help me in tracking down a Harry Rochat etching press.

This is the predominant press seen in pretty much most UK printmaking studios.

Rochat have told me there are a few of there presses in the States and Canada but I and they do not now know where.
The cost of shipping on of these cast iron machines to the States looks to be prohibitive for me presently so I am somewhat hoping to locate both the press and one possibly for sale. If you happen to have any leads I could pursue I would be very grateful indeed.

For Sale: Large floor model Glen Alps Press

Built: Seattle, Washington 1982

Price $5000

Size: 40 in. x 63 in. steel motorized bed, 57 in. high

Total press span: 60 in. x 118 in.

Glen Alps was head of the University of Washington Printmaking Department, and taught there between 1949 and 1978. He is accredited with inventing the collagraph technique of printmaking. Glen designed and fabricated about 30 of these very durable presses over his lifetime. This was one of the last presses made while Glen was still alive. It has had very little use and has been stored in a heated space. I built a birdseye maple yoke over the chain adjustment for the top roller to protect the printing felts. This would be an ideal press for Etching, Collagragh or Monotype application. Would be great for a school, group or solo studio. Buyer must arrange for pick up on Vashon from Shellback Design Studio.
